Regulars at a South East Northumberland pub have donated an eggstrodinary amount of Easter Eggs to a Masonic motorcycle association for distribution to children throughout the county.
The Northumbria Chapter of the Widows Son’s Masonic Bikers Association will make it an Easter to remember for deserving youngsters after pub landlord Jim Rose rallied around his customers at West Sleekburn’s Foresters Arms to donate more than 200 chocolate eggs.
Normally at Easter, around 30 motorcyclists would travel to a number of special schools across North Tyneside, Newcastle and Northumberland delivering more than 1000 Easter eggs which have been donated by generous supermarkets and kind-hearted donations from individual freemasons and masonic lodges in the Province of Northumberland. This year however, with the Corona Virus, alternative ways of delivery are being looked at so the children don’t miss out.
I must thank Jim, Sue and the team at the Foresters Arms for arranging a fundraiser to support our annual Easter egg run. With the help and support of the staff, visitors and locals we’ve our first 200 chocolate Easter eggs and we’ve £180.00 to help with our charity work.

Jim himself is no stranger to motorcycles. In the 80’s he raced alongside Barry Sheen and has many photographs of himself in action on the walls of the pub.
The Widows Sons is open to all Freemasons who enjoy the sport of motorcycling and throughout the year they help to raise awareness of the work of the organisation as well as raising much needed funds for charity themselves.
