Some incredible news has permeated out of Duke of Connaught Lodge No.3892, which meets at Wallsend Masonic Hall. proving they are working hard to ensure that Northumberland Freemasonry continues to grow and flourish.
Having fully embraced the Membership Pathways Scheme, the Lodge have identified new and innovative ways to grow and, being a member of the United Grand Lodge of England Universities Scheme, it boasts a diverse membership, including company directors, councillors, golf club members, and shooting syndicate enthusiasts, alongside their university membership.
The Universities Scheme was introduced in 2005 to establish and enhance arrangements and opportunities for undergraduates and other university members to enjoy Freemasonry. There are currently over 80 Lodges situated across the UK, where towns and cities have a university, which have been authorised to participate in the Universities’ Scheme. The Grand Master, HRH the Duke of Kent, explained “A real benefit the Scheme offers is having young intelligent men joining us who will, we hope, contribute greatly to the future of the Craft, as potential leaders and sources of inspiration.” The Lodge is implicitly linked with Northumbria University and welcomes students, staff and alumni to join their ranks.
One of their number, Terry Christie, has recently announced the addition of 8 new members to the Lodge and, with a further impressive 42 candidates waiting in the wings, the future looks bright and promising.
The Lodge Mentor and wider membership are working hard to provide a welcoming and engaging environment for all the members and to keep the prospective candidates engaged and connected, they have initiated regular social gatherings at the Manor House Hotel in Haltwhistle, providing transportation to and from the coast via the hotel courtesy bus.
The Lodge is very excited about their future and look forward to welcoming new members into Northumberland Freemasonry and the wider Masonic family.
