Today we celebrate with W,Bro, Ian Richardson of St Nicholas Lodge No. 1676, which meets at Byker Masonic Hall, on his latest charitable exploits. Well known for completion of many marathons and his fund raising efforts for the Northumberland Masonic Charitable Association, he has recently organised another running event, this time on the Newcastle Town Moor. On this occasion he raised £400 and subsequently donated it to Lifeltes, via W,Bro David Auld, the last Provincial Charity Steward, on probably his last representation in the post prior to handing over the reigns to W.Bro Jeff Ormston, following a very successful festival where the Province donated 3,248,000 to the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institute.
Lifelites donates specialist assistive technology packages to over 10,000 children and young people with life-limiting, life-threatening and disabling conditions using every children’s hospice services throughout the British Isle. The hospices do not pay a penny towards the equipment and services donated by Lifelites. So while their staff time and funds are concentrated on caring for the children and their families, Lifelites looks after the complex technology and ensures it is kept in good working order for the children for whom every second counts. The equipment, ongoing technical support and training at each hospice costs Lifelites around £50,000 over four years and is paid for entirely through donations.

Congratulations from everyone at Northumberland Freemasons to W.Bro Ian Richardson on his continued magnificent charitable work.
Many thanks to W.Bro Phil Mantey of Sion Lodge No.7562 for the submission of this article.
