W. Bro. Derek Roberts: Sixty Years of Devoted Masonic Service

24th June 2025

1965 – a great year for Derek Roberts!

Last night was a special occasion at St Mark’s Lodge in Fern Avenue. The Provincial Grand Master, Kevin Stannard, had the distinct honour and pleasure of presenting Worshipful Brother Derek Roberts with a Certificate, recognising his sixty years of devoted, continuous service to Freemasonry.

W. Bro. Derek Roberts, a dedicated Mason for six decades, celebrates this momentous occasion.

Initiated into the Lodge at the earliest opportunity, at just 21 years of age, Derek steadily moved through the Officers’ ranks. His dedication culminated in 1978 when he first took the highly esteemed Master’s Chair. Since then, Derek has hardly ever been out of the office within the Lodge, consistently serving in various capacities, only recently retiring from his post as its longest-serving Assistant Director of Ceremonies.

A second year as Master in 2003 led to his well-deserved promotion to Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden. Later, in 2015, to mark his momentous fiftieth year in Freemasonry, he was further promoted to his current distinguished rank of Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden by his good friend, the late Very Worshipful Deputy Provincial Grand Master, David Lillie.

Provincial Grand Master Kevin Stannard presents W. Bro. Derek Roberts with his Certificate recognising 60 years of service.

We extend our heartfelt wishes to Worshipful Brother Derek Roberts for many more years of health and happiness, that he may continue to enjoy his Freemasonry to the fullest. We are eagerly counting down to him celebrating his seventieth year in the Craft in 2035!
