Appointments To And Promotions In Grand Rank In Supreme Grand Chapter

Northumberland Freemasons today congratulate the members of the Province who have received Appointment to, and Promotion in, Supreme Grand Chapter.

E.Comp David Leslie Armstrong was Exalted into Cramlington Royal Arch Chapter No.4196, which meets at Cramlington Masonic Hall, in March 1989. He occupied the chair of Most Excellent in 1998 for two years and has been the Chapter’s Assistant Director of Ceremonies since 2010. He was recognised in Provincial Grand Chapter when he was Appointed to the rank of Past Provincial 1st Assistant Grand Sojourner in 2003, receiving subsequent Promotions to Past Provincial Deputy Grand Registrar in 2009 and Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies in 2011, an office he held until 2019. He has been Appointed, in Supreme Grand Chapter, to the rank of Past Grand Standard Bearer.

E.Comp George Joseph Sanger was Exalted into the now erased Newminster Chapter No.5328 in December 1995, subsequently joining Servavi Chapter No.6105, which meets at Morpeth Masonic Hall, in February 2017, and Northumbrian First Principals’ Chapter No. 3477, which meets at Fern Avenue Masonic Hall, in September 2017. He has occupied the chair of Most Excellent on two occasions in 2004 and 2008 and was acknowledged in Provincial Grand Chapter when he was Appointed to the active rank of Provincial Grand Sojourner in 2009. He has also been Appointed in Supreme Grand Chapter to the rank of Past Grand Standard Bearer.

E.Comp William Thornton was Exalted into Seaton Delaval Royal Arch Chapter No.4617, which meets at Seaton Delaval Masonic Hall, in April 1988, taking the chair of Most Excellent on three separate occasions in 2008, 2013 and finally in 2015. He was acknowledged in Provincial Grand Chapter in 2013 when he was Appointed to the rank of Past Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, being subsequently Promoted to the Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals in 2018. He has also been Appointed in Supreme Grand Chapter to the rank of Past Grand Standard Bearer.

E.Comp John Tomlin was Exalted into De Percy Royal Arch Chapter No.636, which meets at Morpeth Masonic Hall, in May 1975, and was a Founder member of Farne Chapter No.5228, which meets at Alnwick Masonic Hall, in July 2001. He was a joining member of Northumbrian First Principals’ Chapter No.3477 on two occasions in 2003 and 202014, resigning both times. He has occupied the chair of Most Excellent on three occasions, once in De Percy Chapter in 1998, and twice in Farne Chapter in 2002 and 2012. He was acknowledged in Provincial Grand Chapter when he was Appointed to the rank of Provincial Grand Scribe Nehmiah in 2003 and took the role of Provincial Assistant Grand Scribe Nehmiah in 2019. He was acknowledged in Supreme Grand Chapter in 2009 when he was appointed to the rank of Past Grand Standard Bearer and has been Promoted to Past Assistant Grand Sojourner.
