Northumbria Blood Bikes receive £1000

02nd November 2018

WBro Jeff Ormston and WBro Peter Danbury had the idea to raise the money last year after a talk about the Blood Bikes at Links Lodge. Jeff is a volunteer Blood Bike Rider and Dispatcher putting in 2-3 shifts every month to help out.  Jeff said: ‘The work of the Blood Bikes is vitally important.  The organisation is entirely volunteer run but to keep the bikes on the road costs a lot of money.  The £1000 we have raised in Whitley Bay will be put to very good use and I want to thank everyone who donated’. WBro Jeff and WBro Peter contacted all of the Lodges, Chapters and other orders which meet at Whitley Bay Masonic Hall and raised £700 from their generous donations.  The Whitley Bay Masonic Hall Company topped-up the £700 adding another £300 to bring the total donation to £1000. Northumbria Blood Bikes is a registered charity established by local volunteers to deliver essential blood and urgent medical supplies, out of hours, between hospitals and other healthcare sites in North East England.  They cover Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham and Darlington. Northumbria Blood Bikes relies on the voluntary contributions of its members to run and deliver the service.  They are always looking for new volunteers and there are lots of ways you can get involved.  For more information, visit the Northumbria Blood Bikes website.
