The 2nd of September saw a combined charity social evening organised between George Stephenson Lodge No.3390, which meets at Wylam Masonic Hall, and Severus Lodge No.7864, which meets at Throckley Masonic Hall.
A total of 45 people attended and were treated to a hot and cold buffet supper, followed by a raffle, and subsequent entertainment by Jessica Irvine, a fantastic singer, who ensured the dance floor was full and a great night enjoyed by all.
The fantastic total of £1400.00 was raised, consisting of donations from the two organising lodges and numerous individual donations, which has now been donated to the Newcastle Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association in memory of Mrs Alyson Gregory who was sadly taken by this horrible disease in July 2016. Alyson was the wife of Ivor Gregory, a member of George Stephenson Lodge, who also helped to organize the event.
John Hutchinson of Severus Lodge explained “MND is a devastating disease and the money we managed to raise will go towards helping a lot of people”.
The Motor Neurone Disease Association are a membership organisation with over 10,000 members who fund research, improve access to care and provide support for people with Motor Neurone Disease, their families and carers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Grateful thanks go to all those who donated money, and to those who attended and donated raffle prizes.
