The end of September saw Tynemouth Golf Course witness fifteen members of the Northumberland Masonic Golf Society battle the elements thrown at them by Storm Agnes vying for the prestigious Tynemouth Cup. Of the fifteen, fourteen were already members of the organisation with one awaiting Initiation later the following week.
The front 9 was played in relatively good conditions prior to the wind picking up and the heavens opening on the back 9.
Winning the day, with a score of 35 was Dave Burns, keeping the trophy at John Page Lodge No.3619, which meets at Cramlington Masonic Hall, echoing Gavin Wales win last year.
Second place, with 32 points, was taken by Chris Burton, with third place, with 28 points, being shared between Reece Stewart, the initiate in waiting, Gary Breach, the 2021 Cup winner, of Gavel Lodge No.8928, soon to meet at Shiremoor Masonic Hall, and Ray Dryden, of Plessey Lodge No.6242, which meets at Blyth Masonic Hall.
Also picking up their prizes of sets of golf balls were Jim Renwick, Neil Foster and Euan Duff.
