Last week Northumberland Freemasons descended, in numbers, on the Capital, to take in a number of meetings over a three day period.
On the Monday, eleven members of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons in Northumberland, spent the afternoon visiting the Grand Stewards Lodge No.0, at Mark Mason’s Hall, whilst on the Tuesday afternoon they attended the Grand Assembly of Royal Ark Mariners where two of their number, Glen Galloway and George Tuck, received their Royal Ark Mariner Grand Rank.
W.Bro George (Friar) Tuck was advanced into Whitley Lodge of Mark Master Masons No.788, which meets at Whitley Bay Masonic Hall, in April 2001 going on to become Master in 2012 and again in 2013. He is a founder of Alston Galena Mark Lodge in the Province of Cumberland and Westmorland and attained the Chair of that lodge in 2016. He currently holds Provincial Rank in both Provinces and is Secretary in both lodges.
In October 2005 he was Elevated into Whitley RAM Lodge No.788, which also meets at Whitley Bay Masonic Hall, and went on to become Commander in 2011. Five years later he was given Provincial Rank and, like Glen, is Scribe of his lodge.
W. Bro Glen Galloway was Advanced into Blagdon Lodge of Mark Master Masons No.547, which meets at Blyth Masonic Hall, in October 2000 becoming Master in 2005 and again in 2006. He took the office of Secretary in 2010, an office he has just relinquished. In 2015 Glen joined Farne Lodge of Mar Master Masons No.1540, which meets at Alnwick Masonic hall, holding the office of Master from 2019 to 2021. Glen’s first appointment in Provincial Rank was to Senior Overseer in 2014 being promoted to Past Junior Warden in 2019.
He was elevated into Blagdon RAM Lodge, which also meets at Blyth ,Masonic Hall, in March 2001, was Commander in 2009, becoming Scribe in 2013, an office he continues to hold. He was given Provincial rank in 2014.
To top the visit off, on Wednesday twelve members from Northumberland, including the Provincial Grand Master, two Assistant Provincial Grand Masters and the Provincial Senior Grand Warden, attended the Quarterly Communication of United Grand Lodge of England at Freemasons Hall Great Queen Street.
