Double Celebrations For The Lodge Of Swinburne

26th February 2023

Thursday 16th February saw Joseph Christopher Bensley and Louis James Short initiated into Freemasonry witnessed by W.Bro George Sanger, Assistant Provincial Grand Master in the Craft Province of Northumberland and W.Bro Raymond Arthur Walton, the Provincial Grand Master of the Mark Master Masons in Northumberland.

This was the first initiation ceremony that the Lodge had carried out since moving to their new home at Ponteland Memorial Hall and it was a particularly proud night for the Worshipful Master; Worshipful Brother Alan Bensley, for not only did he initiate his son, but also carried out a double First Degree ceremony.

The workings were slickly conducted by Alan, who delivered the whole of the degree himself, with an excellent rendition of the Working Tools and Charge by the Junior Warden; W.Bro John Leslie. The two candidates were ably conducted around the Lodge room by the Junior Deacon; W.Bro Bryan Conway, assisted by the Senior Deacon; Andy McCutcheon and Raymond.

The evening continued with an superb Festive Board at the Ponteland Tandoori Restaurant which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who dined.

Congratulations to both Joseph and Louis at the start of their Masonic journey and everyone at Northumberland Freemasons wishes them well on taking their first step.
