The St Anthony’s Lodge No.4423, which meets at Byker Masonic Hall, has, over the years, experienced many unique and stand out occasions. This year is again no exception with the Lodge celebrating its Centenary and receiving two Provincial visits in just over a week, at the end of May and the beginning of june.
During the recent Annual Installation, held earlier this month, the Lodge witnessed a unique ceremony when two brothers undertook the roles of Installing Master and the new Worshipful Master. Bro Wilfrid Crawford was Installed into the Chair of King Solomon by has brother, W.Bro James Crawford the IPM. Wilf has the pleasure of taking the Lodge into the future with the Centenary event, on 2nd July 2022, for which there is also a full contingent of light blues taking office, with a queue of new brethren eager to step up.
Wilf was Initiated into Freemasonry in May 1987, into Tyne Lodge No.991, which meets at Wallsend Masonic Hall, subsequently resigning and then joining the St Anthony’s Lodge in Aprl 2017.
James was also initiated into Freemasonry into Tyne Lodge, in February 1985, subsequently resigning and joining Holy Cross Lodge No.3679, which also meets at Wallsend Masonic Hall, in 1988, and resigning in 1990. He finally joined the St Anthony’s Lodge in 2018, occupying the Chair of Master in 2021.
He was Exalted into Fortitude Royal Arch Chapter No.4017, which meets at Byker Masonic Hall, in June 1986, resigning on 1990, before joining Chapter of Stability No.6985, which meets at Shiremoor Masonic Hall, in 2019, where he is currently their Third Principal.
Many thanks to W.Bro Bob Bruce for the submission of this article.
Everyone at Northumberland Freemasons wishes Wilf a very productive year in office.
