Friday 20th January saw Lodge of Remembrance No.6319, which meets at Throckley Masonic Hall, play host to a very special evening, with WBro Peter James Maughan installing Bro Michael Oakden in the Masters Chair, witnessed by the Head of Northumberland Freemasons, RWBro Ian Craigs, Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by his Director of Ceremonies, WBro David Armstrong.
A packed to the rafters Lodge room, and Festive Board, made this a superb night as the Installing Master, Peter, installed his eleventh Master, having occupied the Chair himself on an unbelievable twelve occasions, as well as witnessing Ian Craigs promote Peter, for his dedication to the Craft, from Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden to Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden, making this a very special moment in his Masonic journey, after nearly 50 years’ service to masonry.
At the very convivial Festive Board, the Masters Song, sung by WBro Max Ormond, was received wonderfully by the assembled masses and the evening saw everyone enjoy the most special of evenings.
Evenings like this don’t come along very often and we wish Michael a very productive year in office and congratulate Peter on his very well-deserved promotion.
Many thanks, and congratulations, to another of our new members of the Provincial Communications Team, WBro Carl Birkenshaw, for this article.
