50 Year Certificate Celebrations For W Bro Brian Waugh

04th May 2023

Everyone at Northumberland Freemasons congratulates W.Bro Brian Waugh on completing fifty year of uninterrupted service to the Craft.

Brian Waugh was initiated, at the age of 22 years old, into Lord Collingwood Lodge No.3246, which meets at Byker Masonic Hall, on 19th April 1973. He was proposed by his Father, W Bro Isaac Waugh, and seconded by W Bro Stan Copey, this being the start of the Waugh family dynasty within the Lodge.

Brian was a Works Study Engineer at the time of his initiation, but went on to join the Fire Service, where he remained for the rest of his career until retirement. He progressed up the ladder in the various Offices, becoming the Worshipful Master of the Lodge for the first time in 1982. He became Worshipful Master again in 1991; when his father installed him on the occasion. In 1998 his son, Brian Jnr, joined the Lodge, having been proposed by his Father, Brian Snr and seconded by his Grandfather Isaac. He became Worshipful Master once again in 2010; again with his father Isaac carrying out the installation, followed by installing his son Brian Jnr at the end of his year in office.

He joined Cricketers Lodge in 2013 and was Worshipful Master that year and became the Worshipful Master of Lord Collingwood Lodge for the fourth time 1n 2016.

Brian held the Office of Almoner in the Lodge for 21 years, from 2001 to 2022. He was admitted into Seymour Bell Chapter in 1980 and, on its closure, joined the Severus Chapter in 2012, where he occupied the Office of Most Excellent Zerubbabel for two years in 2016 and 2017. In the Province, Brian was appointed Past Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies in 1991, subsequently being receiving promotion to Past Provincial Grand Registrar in 2000 and finally Past Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 2018.

At the meeting W.Bro Alasdair Watson, Assistant Provincial Grand Master, executed the ceremony of presenting the certificate during a friendly but very moving moment.

We again congratulate Brian on this achievement and wish him many more years in the Craft.
