Double Celebration at St Albans Lodge No. 5322

At their recent meeting, members of St Albans Lodge No. 5322 were honoured to welcome APGM W. Bro. Raymond Dryden, accompanied by W. Bro. Sumer Sardagi, ProvAGDC, for a very special evening of celebration.

Two long-serving brethren were recognised for their outstanding dedication to Freemasonry:

  • W. Bro. Brian Summers, who received his 60-year Certificate

  • W. Bro. John Sherrand, who received his 50-year Certificate

W. Bro. Brian Summers – 60 Years in Masonry

W. Bro. Brian was initiated into Lord Warkworth Lodge No. 1879 on 14th July 1965. He became Master in February 1977 and was promoted in November 1988 to PPADC. In the Royal Arch, he was exalted into Lord Warkworth RAC No. 1879 in July 1979, and went on to serve as Zerubbabel in both 1987 and 1991. Now an active member of St Albans Lodge, he continues to contribute with great enthusiasm at the age of 89.

W. Bro. John Sherrand – 50 Years in Masonry

W. Bro. John was initiated into Shiremoor Lodge No. 6921 on 28th November 1972. He later joined St Albans Lodge on 2nd April 2014. He became a Master in January 1994, and was promoted in 1991 and again in 2000 to PPSGD and PPJGW. In the Royal Arch, he was exalted into Vandeleur RAC No. 3586 in April 1981 and served as Zerubbabel in 1992. Today, at the age of 82, he remains a dedicated and active member of the Lodge.

A golden milestone – W. Bro. John Sherrand was recognised for 50 years of dedicated service to Freemasonry.

Both brethren have witnessed many changes in Freemasonry over the decades and continue to enjoy visiting Lodges and sharing their experience and knowledge with others.

The evening was marked with warmth, respect, and fellowship – a fitting tribute to two remarkable milestones in Northumberland Freemasonry.
