Following on from yesterday’s celebrations we today congratulate those Companions of the Province of Northumberland who should have been at the appointments and promotions meeting at Supreme Grand Chapter, Great Queen Street, London, in order to accept their Grand Ranks.
Although all Masonic activity is still currently suspended these well deserving and worthy Companions can, forthwith, wear their new regalia with pride.
The Companions receiving their first appointments are E.Comp Ian Matthews, of Carliol Chapter No.5419, and E.Comp Robert Young, of De Percy Chapter No.636, both of whom have been appointed to the rank of Past Grand Standard Bearer (PGStB), with E.Comp Colin Hume, of Ashington Chapter No.2868, being promoted to the rank of Past Assistant Grand Sojourner (PAGSoj).
E.Comp Ian was initiated into Freemasonry in 1976, and exalted into the Royal Arch Chapter in 2000. He holds Grand Rank in the Craft and is a member of Carliol and White Friars Lodges, having held the office of Worshipful Master on five separate occasions and served as Secretary between 2003 and 2018, taking one year out in 2007 to serve as Worshipful Master. and Carliol and Northumbrian First Principles Chapters. where he held the office of Scribe E from 2006 to 2018.
E.Comp Robert was initiated into Freemasonry in 1982, and exalted into the Royal Arch Chapter in 1986. He also holds Grand Rank in the Craft and is a member of Lodge De Ogle, having been initiated into De Merlay Lodge, which was eased in 2010. He has served as Worshipful Master on three separate occasions and was exalted into De Percy Chapter, becoming Third Provincial Grand Principle between 2011 and 2012.
E.Comp Colin was initiated into Freemasony in 1979, and exalted into the Royal Arch Chapter in 1990. He holds Grand Rank in the Craft, having served as the Provincial Grand Secretary between 2008 and 2012, and is a member of Bothal and Northumbrian Masters Lodges. He also served as Provincial Grand Scribe E between 2008 and 2012, is a member of Ashington, Oriental and Per Diem Chapters, and previously held the Grand Rank of Past Grand Standard Bearer (PGStB) prior to this promotion.
