We’re proud to share this inspiring story, originally featured on the Children’s Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) website, which highlights the generosity and dedication of our members and friends.
From gruelling sporting challenges to extraordinary charitable legacies, Freemasons from across our Province – alongside the Northumberland Mark Master Masons – have gone the extra mile to help Heart Heroes, children living with serious heart conditions, and their families.
A special mention goes to Stuart Armstrong, Stephen Daley, and Paul, who together raised an impressive £2,923.89 through three epic challenges: the Coast to Coast cycle, the Dragon Boat Race, and a white-collar boxing event. With further generous donations from Renwick Flooring and Stephen Daley, the total climbed to a fantastic £3,748.89 – every penny going directly to support CHUF’s vital work.
This community effort stands alongside one of the largest donations CHUF has ever received: a truly humbling £153,035 from the Northumberland Freemasons and Northumberland Mark Master Masons, given in memory of Gordon Craigs, a 45-year Freemason, whose legacy of service continues to change lives.
The larger gift, comprising £50,000 from the Richard Henry Holmes Charity and £103,035 from the Mark Benevolent Fund, has funded cutting-edge echocardiogram equipment as part of CHUF’s Seven Appeal, ensuring that Heart Heroes will benefit for years to come.
From those lacing up their trainers and stepping into the ring, to those honouring a lifelong Masonic commitment to charity and community, these contributions are a shining example of what we stand for.
To all involved, you are true Heart Heroes.
