The 21st August sees the return of the Classic Car and Bike Show at the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter. The show, in its third year, evolved as part of the Masonic Tercentenary Celebrations, a couple of years ago.
W.Bro Peter Younger, of the Northumbria Widows Sons Biker Association, explained that it came to be as other parts of the country were holding similar events, and it was agreed that it would be an interesting initiative for the Widows Sons to be involved in.
The event, not only raises awareness of Freemasonry in the community, but also increases footfall to the centre which in turn assists with the rehoming of some of the animals at the centre.
Through the minimal adult entry fee of just £2 much needed funds are raised, which assist with the day to day running of the charity which, during the pandemic, have like many others, been severely hit financially.
This year is especially special as it forms part of the 125 year celebrations of the charity, which was established in 1896 with the intention of helping lost, unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned animals every year. Their objective is the promotion of kindness and prevention of cruelty to animals.
So, if you’re free on Saturday 21st August, why not pop along to the Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter on Benton Road, between 1000 and 1600, where you’ll find a fabulous family day out of classic cars, motorbikes, scooter, steam engines and free entertainment.
