Tyne Valley Lodge Make A Convenient Donation To St Cuthbert’s Church

22nd January 2022

A Greenhead church is celebrating receiving a much needed donation from Tyne Valley Lodge No.7506, which met at Haltwhistle Masonic Hall, until its sad demise last year when it finally surrendered its warrant.

St Cuthbert’s Church, situated in Greenhead, is currently raising funds to improve their toilet and kitchen facilities, which they commenced in October last year.

The fundraising was started by Reverend Keith Teasdale and organist Stuart Stokell who managed to raise money by walking Hadrian’s Wall, raising more than £1,000. Since then the church have been quoted a price of up to £20000 for the job from a local architect, and have so far raised £6000, including the £1000 donation from the Lodge.

Church warden for St Cuthbert’s Greenhead, Elsie Dixon said: “We have no toilets at all. We really need toilets in the church as anyone visiting has to use the village hall ones, which is quite a little walk away. It is awful for anyone needing it and we cannot provide it. “We have received a generous donation of £1000 towards the installation of toilets and kitchen in the church. This brings our total over £6000. We are very grateful to the Tyne Valley Lodge Haltwhistle Freemasons for this kind gift.”
