At the recent Installation meeting of Oriental Lodge No.9371, which meets at Byker Masonic Hall, a very special presentation was made to celebrate an incredible 150 years of Masonry, as well as many years of close friendship.
WBro Harry Aitken, CPM, LGR, Past District Grand Registrar, District of Hong Kong & the Far East, was welcomed as an honorary member. In addition he is also a Past Master of Zetland and Hong Kong Lodge No.7665 in London, which has enjoyed close ties with Oriental Lodge for many years.
Harry wished to mark the fact that he had recently received his 50 year certificate, as had his friends in Oriental Lodge, WBro John Chan and WBro Barry Speker, both Past Masters of the Lodge. To mark the magnificent total of 150 years in Masonry, Harry commissioned the production, in Hong Kong, of three traditional Chinese seals bearing Masonic symbols, in addition to the name, rank and date of initiation of each of the three.
A generous and greatly appreciated gesture and a reminder of the Chinese cultural traditions observed and treasured by both Lodges and the enduring friendships forged in Freemasonry.
