A North East based charity has been assisted with their essential work thanks to a combined charitable donation of £5531, from a number of different Masonic units and groups within the Province.
The Bobby Robson Cancer Care Centre offers a wider range of specialist services than any other and have the expertise to treat any type of cancer. They focus on an individual’s wellbeing, helping them, and their family, to lead as normal a life as possible whilst giving them the very best treatment available. This magnificent donation came about after W.Bro Peter Scott, of Bretwalda Lodge No.9007, which meets at Shiremoor Masonic Building, had been undergoing treatment for some considerable time, and requested that a donation be made from the Northumberland Mark Benevolent Fund, to purchase 4 new computers to the tune of £4231, which was duly honoured, as he is also the reigning Master of Backworth Mark Lodge No.1189.
In addition to this Peter donated £450, which he raised himself, and donations of £250 were also received from Northanhymbre Preceptory No.590, Bretwalda Lodge and the Widows Sons, as well as £100 from Lindisfarne Lodge No.2762.
The Northumberland Freemasons wish Peter all the best for the future and congratulate all concerned on participating in this wonderful initiative.
Thanks go to W.Bro Alan Sheret for the submission of this article.
