On Sunday, 6th October, the Northumberland Freemasons held their very first Fly Fishing Competition at the picturesque Langley Dam, bringing together 28 anglers from both the Northumberland and Durham provinces for a day of fun and friendly rivalry, all in the name of charity.
The competition saw great participation, with a total of 33 rainbow trout caught throughout the day. It was an exciting and competitive event, but once again, Northumberland came out on top!
Results:
• 1st place: Collin Bowman & Ian MacArthur
• 2nd place: Fergus Black & Brian Green
• Heaviest Fish: Collin Bowman (weighing in with a fantastic catch!) 🙈🤣
The Provincial Grand Master of Northumberland, Ian Craigs, and the Provincial Grand Master of Durham, John Thompson, were both present at the event. It was John Thompson who had the honor of presenting the awards to the winners, highlighting the camaraderie between the two provinces.
The event was not just about the fishing, though. In true Masonic spirit, the day raised £220 for charity.
It was a fantastic day of fellowship, fishing, and charity, and plans are already underway for future competitions. Congratulations to all the winners and participants, and thank you to everyone who made the event such a success! 🎣
Stay tuned for more updates on how you can get involved in next year’s competition!
