Double Celebration For Haltwhistle Lodge

24th February 2022

Haltwhiste Lodge No.5090, which meets at Haltwhistle Masonic Hall, had cause for a double celebration at their last meeting.

Firstly one of their number, Bro. Gary Wright, was Installed into the Masters Chair, for the very the first time having waited an incredible 39 years before doing so due to vocational commitments. The exemplary installation was carried out by by W Bro George Parkinson, a mason of 51 years himself, commented that at the age of 88, and now having Installed his successor on the sixth occasion, it would definitely be for the last time! The officers for the year also included two Master Masons as Senior and Junior Deacons.

On the same night the Lodge also successfully balloted for a new member who will be Initiated at their next meeting in March, as well as another joining member.

To have a first time Master and the first candidate for 5 years is cause for a double celebration. It is not easy to find candidates in a rural area such as Haltwhistle, where new members are usually joining members from other Lodges. Haltwhistle Lodge recently welcomed 8 brethren from Tyne Valley Lodge which sadly recently closed.

Many thanks go to W.Bros Philippe Pages and Alf Adams for the submission of this article.
