Visit to Men @ 10 by Widows Sons & Reivers Northumbria Chapter

11th September 2025

On Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, members of the Widows Sons Reivers Northumbria Chapter – George Curry, Stan Marshall, Graeme Jenkins, Jim Wade, and their newest brother, Lee Greener – visited the Men @ 10 group at Throckley Community Hall.

Men @ 10 is a small but vital charity that provides support for men living with mental health challenges, anxiety, loneliness, or a loss of direction in life. Run entirely by volunteers, the group offers day trips, cooking sessions, and light-hearted games, all designed to build friendships and create a safe, welcoming space.

Many members were initially unsure about joining, but the impact has been life-changing. One man, attending for the first time after the loss of his family, admitted he had felt completely lost. By the end of the session, he stood to thank Michelle, the organiser, and the group for their warmth and kindness, saying it had given him a new outlook on life – and that he would be returning regularly.

During the visit, the Reivers Northumbria Chapter proudly presented a £200 donation, which will go directly towards the group’s activities and was gratefully received.

The day ended on a light-hearted note when Lee Greener, on duty with his fire crew, arrived in a fire engine. The surprise visit brought laughter and smiles, with the crew warmly welcomed by the group.
