As Excellent Comp Paul Winship was unable to be present at the Annual Chapter Convocation to be invested as 2nd Provincial Grand Principal, it was decide that the ceremony should take place at the meeting of Northumbrian First Principals’ meeting held at Fern Avenue Masonic Centre on Tuesday 30th April 2024.
After the Chapter was opened, the Most Excellent Grand Superintendent for Northumberland, Ian Craigs, was admitted accompanied by a number of officers of the Provincial Grand Chapter. The Grand Superintendent took the Chair and opened a Provincial Grand Chapter. Excellent Companion Paul was then obligated and installed as 2nd Provincial Grand Principal and took his seat in the Chapter.
The Grand Superintendent closed the Provincial Grand Chapter and handed the sceptre back, the Northumbrian First Principals’ Chapter resumed and three new Principals were installed.
The new Z., Excellent Companion Bob Reay who is a volunteer at Beamish Open Air Museum, then gave a fascinating talk on the history of the Masonic Hall in the museum.
Following the retirement of the Grand Superintendent from the Chapter, it was closed and we all retired for a typically fabulous Fern Avenue dinner.”
