Following on from the success of the last two years toy appeal amongst the Brethren from Cramlington Masonic Building, W Bro Gavin Wales has once again been playing Santa Claus, coordinating the numerous donations of gifts and money.
This year in excess of £1500 was raised, including donations from the Mark Benevolent Fund, John Page Lodge No.3619, Gavel Lodge No.8928 and Regis Lodge No.8864, which meets at Whitley Bay Masonic Hall. This has been converted into in excess of 160 gifts and split between Salvation Army in Cramlington and Bedlington, and Dudley First School with the toys donated to numerous local families in the area in need this Christmas
Gavin explained “We are really proud to have been able to spread a little joy, during these difficult times, to those less well off than ourselves. What really prompted this was the realisation that our area has the highest cases of child poverty in the United Kingdom. A very sad fact unfortunately.” .
