After the much delayed celebration of its Centenary in September, Bothal Lodge No.4116, which meets at Ashington Masonic Hall, had further reason to celebrate, when 23 year old Mr Connor Shields became the latest member of the Lodge on 13th October.
Prior to the commencement of the initiation ceremony the Worshipful Master, Ted Nesbit, invited his Junior Warden, WBro Alan Shields to temporarily occupy the Master’s Chair in order to initiate his son. An invitation he readily accepted without hesitation, with Ted assuming the role of Junior Warden.
Alan completed the ceremony in an exemplary manner and his emotion and pride, in having his son join the Lodge, shone through throughout. With over 50 members and visitors attending Brother Connor received the warmest of Masonic welcomes into the Fraternity.
At the Festive Board, a very proud Dad proposed the toast to his son, now brother, which was completed in song.
Brother Connor made a short, sincere and confident response which was enthusiastically received by all present.
In the quiet of the bar later, a very happy Brother Connor said how much he had enjoyed the ceremony, and the whole evening, and was looking forward to his future in Freemasonry.
Congratulations to Connor from everyone at Northumberland Freemasons, on your initiation, and we wish you many more happy years to come.
Many thanks to W.Bro Ted Nesbitt for the submission of this article.
