Knock Out Support For Marie Curie From Northumberland Freemason

16th June 2021

Northumberland Freemason, Stuart Armstrong, a member of Lodge of Remembrance No.6319, which meets at Throckley Masonic Building, is currently undertaking an intensely gruelling training regime in order to step into the boxing ring, at the age of 53, to raise funds for Marie Curie, at a White Collar Boxing event being held at the Rainton Arena, Houghton le Spring, in just over a weeks time, on 25th June.

If that wasn’t enough of an ordeal he’s then tackling the Great North Run half marathon on 12th September, for the same cause, and already planning a further, probably equally gruelling, event in aid of dementia charities next year.

Stuart explained “Both my parents have had cancer. My dad had skin cancer for over 30 plus years from his active service serving in Burma and Malayafor the British Army, doing two years in Burma jungle warfare.”

He went on to say that his mum had survived both kdney and breast cancer and was still going strong at the ripe old age of 88.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end of life charity who provide frontline nursing and hospice care, a free support line and a wealth of information and support on all aspects of dying, death and bereavement.

Let’s help Stuart smash his target by making a donation at https://www.gofundme.com/f/white-collar-boxing-and-great-north-run?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_cf%20share-flow-1&fbclid=IwAR0oLd-GJU-hx1KqondVhxpI1QNIt5IxauFrZSd-vD3JCjaDEDajBvEV4bE

Good luck Stuart, from all at Northumberland Freemasons, on your inspiring fundraising attempts.

Many thanks to Bro. Stuart Armstrong for the submission of this article.
