Freemasons Hand Over Keys to £20,000 Van for Hexham Charity

30th March 2021

Northumberland Freemasons have helped a Hexham charity carry out its work in the community.

The Hextol Foundation in Hexham have received £20,000 to buy a new crew van that will help the charity carry out its important work in the community. The van will primarily be used to transport the charity’s gardening and property works volunteer teams to more customers throughout the town and beyond.

The Hextol Foundation was formed in 2007 and provides real working opportunities for people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions which otherwise would limit their ability to obtain regular, supported and purposeful work.

Chief Executive Bruce Howorth was pleased to receive the new crew van.

“Demand for our work has increased and so has the need to transport our volunteers. The new crew van will allow us to reach further into the community and will be invaluable for the charity.

“On behalf of the Hextol Foundation, I’d like to thank Northumberland Freemasons for this game changing van which will help so many people now and in the future.”

Kevin Stannard representing Northumberland Freemasons explained that each year, the Provincial Grand Lodge of Northumberland through the Richard Henry Holmes Masonic Benevolent Fund donates around £80,000 twice each year to local charities to boost worthwhile and deserving projects throughout Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside.

“We are delighted to help the Hextol Foundation by purchasing the new crew van. We are very happy that such a good cause is benefiting from the van and that it will have such a positive impact on everyone that uses it
