Today, in conjunction with UGLE, we officially launch the first national NHS, Social Care & Frontline Workers Day, which will take place on Monday 5th July 2021.
This will allow everyone to show their gratitude to all NHS and front line staff with an annual day of thanks, and remembrance of those who lost their lives because of Covid-19. The day will take place with a series of events involving every aspect of society and raising money for NHS Charities Together, which supports 250 hospitals and their charitable trusts, and the National Care Association, which represents 1.6 million workers caring for some of society’s frailest citizens.
A number of events are taking place during the day, which you can get involved with, which include:
10am Raising the NHS, Social Care & Frontline Workers Day Flag
11am Two minute Silence and Playing of the Last Post and Reveille
1pm Nation’s Toast to the Heroes of the NHS, Social Care & Frontline Services
4pm Traditional Afternoon Tea – £1000 prize for the most unusual location
8pm Clapping & the Ringing of Church Bells
Northumberland Freemason, James Horner, of St Raphael Lodge NO.6261, is already involved having been one of the first to register an event, with a special free live stream variety show at the Tyne Theatre, in conjunction with the Two Chosen Charities (2CC). They will have several well-known local, as well as national, faces supporting the event from video messages to live appearances with both a bit of humour and music performed on stage. More announcements will be revealed soon.
James explained “We will be continuing our annual Charity Theatre show on Sunday 19th September but the 2CC Team are delighted to be supporting the NHS Day on Monday 5th July and hope we can help contribute to the 2 chosen charities namely the NHS Charities Together and the National Care Association”.

Stuart Cairns, the Provincial Grand Secretary, said “We are all aware of the dedicated support and care that we have received from our NHS, Social Care and Front Line Services and no more so than in the truly amazing roll out of the vaccination programme. It is only right that the Nation will want to celebrate and show it’s appreciation of that dedicated service. UGLE has pledged its support and hopes that the brethren in Northumberland will join in the celebrations on the 5th of July and for many years to come”.
