At the February meeting of Addison Potter Lodge No 3807, which meets at the North East Masonic Temple, Corbridge Road, they had the pleasure of celebrating and honouring Bro. Frederick Brian Colley’s 54 years in Freemasonry.
Bro. Brian was initiated as a Lewis on the 21 April 1965 having been proposed by his father Bro. Fred Colley.
To mark this event they had a distinguished guest in attendance, W.Bro Brian W Denton PSGD Assistant Provincial Grand Master, to perform the presentation.
Preceding the presentation W.Bro Denton talked of the dedication and commitment that a freemason has to give to achieve 54 years in freemasonry and that a brother should be immensely proud of this achievement. He also picked out interesting topics from the year of Bro. Brian’s birth and the year he was initiated. Bro. Brian later stated he could not recall the topics from his birth year.
The Brethren were also given a history of Bro. Brian’s time in Freemasonry and enlightened into his activities outside of Freemasonry.
W.Bro Denton then presented Bro. Brian with his certificate on the centre with congratulations and later Bro. Brian reciprocated, presenting a cheque for £1000, on behalf of the Lodge, to W.Bro Brian Denton for the NMCA 2020 Festival.
The Brethren all enjoyed the festive board having a special meal for the occasion. Bro. Brian was toasted at the festive board and in his reply he recalled how it was a special evening at his initiation and that his presentation evening has ranked alongside that occasion.
The Provincial Communications Team congratulate Brian on reaching this monumental milestone.
